Synopsis (it was hard to write it without revealing too much of the plot):
She wasn’t supposed to die.
Talia’s life is suddenly cut short after a car collision on the main street. Having done nothing of significant value during her time on Earth, Talia was rejected from both Heaven and Hell. Now roaming free on ‘limbo’, Talia must either commit an admirable act of reverence or an obscene act of abhorrence.
Given a second chance by Aaron, her angel friend, she must now return back to Earth so she may complete her task and enter one of the realms: Heaven, or Hell.
The choice may sound easy but believe me, it’s most certainly not.
Teaser of Chapter 1:
My hands gripped the steering wheel. Sweat beaded down my forehead and as tempted as I felt to wipe it off, I knew that it wasn’t the priority here. The car jerked and shattered, the sound becoming more and more vivid, more and more realistic. I willed myself to believe that this wasn’t happening but I knew it was true. Colors whirled before my eyes; red, blue, yellow and green: all colors known and unknown to people were flashing ahead of me. I jolted up, a pain comparable to electricity surged up my spine and I shivered. Blinking twice, I realized I was upside down; my head was resting on the car’s ceiling. Sirens hummed faintly from behind me and for an instant, hope washed over me. Desperately, I reached for my seat belt, wincing in pain as I attempted to unbuckle it. It was useless. Despair replaced the hope as the harsh reality had begun bore into my brain. I was stuck. With a dry throat and eyes stinging with tears, I fell back. My head jerked forward once more as the car tossed and turned and suddenly, the colors were gone. My vision blurred. Blackness seeped in through my eye lids. Tired and defeated, I slid down the sheepskin seats, allowing the darkness to consume me.

I didn’t notice that I had fallen asleep, but I knew I had because I’d woken up. My head was aching, my skin was paler than usual and my spine tingled with agitation. The hairs on my arm stood on end. Moaning several curse words I managed to open my eyes.
“Ah, you’ve finally awoken.” Startled, I clambered up. I wasn’t home and I wasn’t in Mom’s car driving along the interstate. My memory wasn’t as graphic as I hoped. I barely remembered what had happened. Had I been kidnapped? The woman in front of me smiled, a dimple forming on her right cheek. She looked at least twenty, if not, younger. “Glad to see you’re not dead.” She laughed to herself quietly, and other people I hadn’t noticed began to laugh too, as if it was all one big inside joke. The woman held out her hand and I grabbed it, pulling myself up. I noticed that there was a significant line of people in front of me, all standing eagerly straight line that lead to an enormous gate – some, more eager than others.
“Where am I?” I forced my voice to sound firmer than it usually did, but I failed miserably as the pitch increased. Undeterred by my question, I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to find out or not. I shifted my weight from feet to feet, my eyes wandering aimlessly, absorbing the new terrain I was in. We were all standing in water, a creek perhaps, and even though we were, we were dry… well, most of us were. Withered trees grew from the creek below, sprouting high above us. There was no sun or no moon or no light source, but the place seemed lit enough that we could see each other clearly. There was an eerie darkness that blanketed the area, but at the same time, it seemed almost serene. I peered over the woman, examining the other people in line. Mostly old people, men and women both, that stood in line. Some where drenched in water, others held guns in their hands; a man just ahead has a noose loosely tied around his neck. I squinted at the woman – nothing seemed to be wrong with her. She smiled.
